THE SITUATION

Starts

with...

...some bad news for the climate change sceptics and their sponsors: climate change is very real and is entirely induced by humans. The evidence is quite literally written in stone (half a billion years worth of fossil and chemical traces in rocks covering show us that atmospheric carbon dioxide has never been even remotely close to the level it is at today).

 

More worrying is what climate change will actually mean for us.

Okay

So whilst we won't be seeing sea levels rising to the extent of the above any time soon (that's a 300 metre sea level rise, in case you were wondering...), some of the most brilliant minds alive today agree that conflicts, famines, skin cancer, malaria and dengue fever will soon become much more commonplace. Heatwaves, floods and violent storms will rapidly add to the 25 million exisiting environmental refugees and with a temperature increase of only 4°C we can be certain of roughly

two thirds of the world's plant and animal species becoming extinct.

 

According to the World Wildlife Fund, 50% of the world's wildlife has already been lost since 1970.

Just how much worse are prepared to let this get before we all stand up and do something?

 

 

OUR CARBON CREDIT PLEDGE

We buy our carbon credits well in advance

It is no good pumping out greenhouse gases and thinking we can simply offset the damage later. It was precisely this kind of thinking which got us into this mess in the first place.

 

Which is why at Carbon Neutral Media our business model is designed from the ground up to not pump out any unnecessary greenhouse gases.

What we do is buy carbon credits for double the amount of the negligible and unavoidable amounts of CO2 which we anticipate using during a set period.

We then go back to adhering to a strict carbon budget and monitoring our carbon footprint down to a tee, so that any damage we do to the environment has already been accounted for and the greenhouse gases have already been mitigated.

 

Always shooting for 200% means that we are rarely going to be caught short. But what do we do in the unlikely event that we somehow exceed our estimated quota?

 

Simple. We do nothing.

 

Until we are back in "carbon credit" we do not believe that we should be able to continue our operations as a company.

 

The way we see things, if a company is unable to pay for their office space or licence fees: then that company is going to have a pretty hard time in being able

to continue their operations. So why should it be any different when a company is unable to pay their environmental dues?

 

In October of 1987, a young boy picked up an edition of Time magazine which had just popped through the letterbox. He didn't know why, but something about the cover captivated him. So he opened the magazine and began reading the cover story. By the time he finished reading, he was convinced: the world was

in big trouble and we all needed to do something about it before it was too late. And the media was

in the best position to communicate this message to the rest of the world.

But he was just a young boy and didn't know what to do about it.

 

Until he grew up and founded Carbon Neutral Media.

 

Mother Nature. Whilst most other companies will reel off names of ultra-successful business people, media moguls and entrepreneurs and cite them as their role models, we only reserve the utmost respect for her. She provides for our planet and doesn't take too kindly to environmentally-damaging businesses.
